How to reach the venue?

Coming by car

When coming by car, there are two options to park your car: you can park for free in 'Kardinaal Mercierlaan' at the side of the road and walk to the venue (10 min); or you can park for free on the KU Leuven parking 'De Molen' (Celestijnenlaan, 3001 Leuven) and walk to the venue (10 min). For parking ‘De Molen’, you will need the following code to both enter and leave the parking lot (don’t forget the hashtag at the end!): 1440#.

Park along Kardinaal Mercierlaan

  • Take highway E40 (Brussels - Liège/Luik) direction Leuven. Take exit Leuven/Hasselt/Genk (E314)
  • Take first exit Leuven (Exit 15)
  • At the fourth set of traffic lights (the ringway around Leuven), turn right
  • At the first set of traffic lights (next to the Delhaize supermarket), turn again right (the most right one)
  • Continue along the road by foot towards the main building: Google maps (green road on map)

Coming by train

Leuven can easily be reached by train. Each hour, two direct trains run between the airport and the railway station in Leuven, in both directions; the journey takes 15 minutes. There are also at least two direct trains between Brussels and Leuven every hour in each direction, taking about 25 minutes.

At Leuven station take the train to Wavre/Ottignies. You can consult the time schedule on the website of the NMBS. Heverlee is the first stop.

From Heverlee station, take the Sint-Lambertusstraat towards the church 'Sint-Lambertus'. Cross the 'Waversebaan', go straight on and follow 'Vandenbemptlaan' (turns to the left) till you reach a small square 'Kantineplein'. Look for the castle and take the left driveway to the castle (Kasteelpark Arenberg 1). The first building on your left is the Thermotechnical Institute: Google maps.

Coming by bus

In Leuven train station, you can take two bus lines to come to Heverlee: Line 2 in the direction of ‘Heverlee Campus’ (takes about 20 min but drives every 10 min) or Line 616 in the direction of ‘Zaventem luchthaven’ or ‘Arenberg wetenschapspark’ (takes only 10 min but drives only once every hour). The closest bus stop to the venue is called 'Kantineplein' (see picture). From this stop, you still have to walk less than 5 min: Google maps (orange road on map).

Coming by plane

In the Brussels Airport (Zaventem), take the train to Leuven (about 16 minutes), not Louvain-la-Neuve! You'll find trains for Leuven by searching for: Leuven or Landen. From Leuven station, proceed as mentioned above. Another airport close to Leuven is the Brussels South Charleroi Airport. In Charleroi you have to take the train to the Brussels South train station where you take another train to Leuven.
